Creativity & innovation in Digital Fundraising

Friday 24 Feb 2023 - 12:10 pm to 1:10 pm

We have a copycatting problem in our sector. This has been caused by a culture that values only conversion metrics (ROI, CPA) – coupled with a lack of creativity and a lot of risk aversion. But all is not lost!

We’re going to show you organisations that have found creative ways to acquire leads, get people to fundraise for them and upgrade or retain their donors.

You CAN model your fundraising events and campaign from the success of other charities – but you need to make it unique and relevant to your organisation’s brand and purpose. And remain donor centric!

The Nature Conservancy uses a wildlife photo competition to acquire leads AND they have the best image library to boot.

UNHCR for Australia co-created a mid-value donor campaign with their refugee beneficiaries. By giving refugees what they needed most – cash assistance – they’ve been able to directly connect women donors in Australia with women Refugees in Jordan.

Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, Aoteoroa has gone out to the widest possible audience to acquire new donors by telling the stories of the sick and injured children that have spent time at Starship. This fundraising campaign raised millions of dollars online, through traditional case study style fundraising – but told through media and advertising.

You don’t have to recreate the wheel to be unique and creative. You just have to be authentically your org.
