From Myth to Mastery: Igniting success in your fundraising events strategy

Friday 21 Feb 2025 - 12:10 pm to 1:10 pm

  • General Fundraiser (all fundraisers)
  • Small Organisations

From Myth to Mastery, an extension of the 2024 Myth Smashers presentation, will debunk common misconceptions about peer-to-peer mass participation fundraising events and highlight the critical role of strategic planning in driving sustainable success.

Attendees will hear some prevalent myths, including the misconception that successful events “just happen” without strategic planning, simply because they have been running for so long and are so well known and that these myths can lead to stagnation or failure in fundraising efforts.

We’ll seek to define what constitutes a strategic plan in the context of peer-to-peer event fundraising, including the key components of the plan:

  • Goals (financial and non-financial)
  • Target audience
  • Crafting compelling stories and messaging that resonates with the audience
  • Reviewing and choosing the right tactics
  • Engaging with the right people – both internal and external stakeholders
  • Choosing the appropriate metrics to track the success of the activities and tactics

And the benefits of adopting a strategic approach (increased retention, higher funds raised and stronger relationships).
