There seems to be a common theme in our world that teams responsible for raising funds and awareness are under resourced for the work expected of them. These teams are tasked with doing more and more whilst resources and expenses are capped.

Most of us will have heard something along the lines of “We need you to raise an extra $X but you need to do it with the resources you currently have”.

Ultimately, the age old saying of ‘you need to spend money to make money’ rings true in the NFP world.

Why just accept a CEO or board saying we don’t have room in the budget to expand your team? As a senior manager whose responsibility it is to drive revenue growth, it’s your obligation to look past the ‘now’ and present a case that’s tantalising. A case that a CEO and board have no choice but to listen to and consider. A case that gives your organisation the potential to offer improved and increased services or funding for your cause.
