Macquarie University’s Trusts and Foundations Team has undertaken an innovative and proactive strategic approach to Trusts and Foundations fundraising. The team is keen to share their successes, failures, and everything in-between, on their journey with the FIA Conference attendees.

The presentation will cover the process we’ve taken from start to finish – including how we developed a new, ambitious five-year strategy to take the Trusts and Foundations program to the next level, how we have worked to build genuine, meaningful relationships with donors and prospective donors, how we have worked to effectively to strengthen the culture of philanthropy at the university by building the capacity of non-fundraising staff to engage with donors, and how we have used data and metrics to measure our progress against meeting our fundraising goals. The team will use real life examples to illustrate the above points and be candid about sharing both successes and lessons learned in implementing our new strategy.

Our aim through this presentation is to challenge common stereotypes around Trusts and Foundations fundraising, provide more visibility to Trusts and Foundations as an effective fundraising function, and inspire organisations to use innovation to take their Trusts and Foundations fundraising to the next level.
