Running is Booming in Australia: Learn how to leverage this trend to maximise fundraising revenue

Friday 21 Feb 2025 - 2:20 pm to 3:20 pm

  • General Fundraiser (all fundraisers)

This presentation will delve into the remarkable surge in recreational running across Australia, with participation skyrocketing from 3.4 million in 2019 to approximately 4.5 million today. This growth is fuelling the popularity of Mass Participation Events, many of which are selling out in record time.

Grassrootz CEO Melinda Graetz will present compelling data on how this running boom is driving unprecedented peer-to-peer fundraising success. For example, the 2024 Nike Melbourne Marathon Fundraising Program has already seen a 400% increase* in funds raised compared to last year, with the Marathon event selling out in just 48 hours!

The session will also include a best practice case study from Nike Melbourne Marathon’s top charity partner – Beyond Blue.

Carly Smith, Beyond Blue’s Community Fundraising Lead, will reveal their key fundraising strategies, including their first-time use of Charity Places, lessons learned (including what didn’t work) and valuable insights to help other charities maximise their results from these highly popular events.

* This stat is correct as of 6th June 2024 and the event will take place on 13th October 2024.
