Future ways of working

Thursday 29 Feb 2024 - 8:30 am to 9:30 am

Why, where, and how we work are important factors which now more than ever influence individual employment choices.  The charity sector is not immune to changes in the labour market, and adapting, changing, and trying new ways to attract, retain and value skilled staff is vital to the impact we can make to the causes and issues we exist to influence.

Breast Cancer Trials is a medical research charity based in Newcastle NSW which has for over 45 years conducted a national and international breast cancer research program. One key driver in achieving our mission is attracting the right talent and we have embraced an organisation-wide culture where we live by the principles of valuing our staff, empowering them to achieve, and supporting their health, wellbeing, and work-life balance.

This presentation will share our learnings from initiatives across the organisation to support and enable a strong, high-performing culture that attracts, values, engages and empowers employees; and which supports personal and organisation-wide productivity efficiencies and smart ways of working.

We will also share the work our small but mighty fundraising team has done with More Strategic on their new skills-based approach to identify the staff experience, skills and interests needed to deliver on our fundraising growth strategy.
